With all the New Year resolutions, last year reflections and last year best posts and stuff like that popping up everywhere in the blog-hemisphere, I am feeling a bit stumped.
I had a very bad year, blogging – wise.
I was lazy, crazy and whiny-mina-mo (the last word has no meaning). I let blogging take back-seat totally and really did not do anything much productive except, of course getting pregnant and cribbing how difficult it is been ever since (compared to when I was pregnant with Aarya, where I had no issues at all). But this coming year, I want to be more present in this space, share what Aarya and I do together – because it makes me accountable. I know, it is going to be a crazy year ahead with baby #2 making her entry (hopefully around March 3rd and I hope God blesses us with a Warrior Princess this time), but I still want to write because it makes me happy, so that and when I AM happy, my people are happy.
I know you guys have read a major dose of resolutions from our fellow lovely bloggers, so you can very much skip this part and head over to the very end, lol!(very personal, nothing major)! I want to try the accountability thing and see if it works in making me actually get around doing some of these.
#1 – I want to spend more time intentionally doing things that Aarya wants. I know I have in recent times, told him we could do something else instead of something he wanted – just so that I did not have to move my butt (lol!). But this year, I am going to be intentional and more present. Less playing in the malls, more in the play-grounds ( we are lucky to have playground in our society where we recently rented), more swimming pool time, more tennis, footballs and crickets!
#2 – Yoga. I was a very happy chick when I did my Yoga everyday first thing in the morning (before marriage). It is an awesome way to start the day and it helped me a lot. Post delivery, I want to rejoin my classes (maybe a few months later) and I want to join a morning class this time. Followed later on by a Dance class, which used to be my passion pre-marriage 🙂 AND if that was not over-the-top already, Start a Project-Life style memory keeping journal!
#3 – Declutter – I think this is on everyone’s mind all the time, it certainly is on mine! I want to embrace the “Simple Living” concept. And from January, I want to remove clutter, organize our living space, not bring in any new unnecessary stuff and start living with what we have. Major work for a shopaholic like me.
#4 – Dress up every morning. Really! So simple but so difficult. Sleep better (you have no idea, how bad my sleep patterns have become lately)
#5 – Being more positive and loving to my Husband and Children (it feels weird to say children). Lately I have become a bit over-critical I think. 1st Jan is our wedding anniversary and I really need to be more loving and nurturing around my family! Instead of “losing” it all the time, yelling and all that – I want to be calm, take time outs myself and encourage positiveness. I am the key to a happy family, I know it – I just need to practice it more often!
#6 – Make time to read, walk and pamper myself. Do more cooking. Learn to use my camera better and such things. Find time to write, because that makes me happy.
#7 – Do a random act of kindness for someone in my family and for someone who is not part of our family. Donate to institutions locally. Make food parcels for the homeless and remember to deliver them too; participate in “anna – dann” at our local temple and someday sponsor it.
#8 – Be financially wise and independent as a family. We are a one income family (Husband) and we still have a long way to go! This year we will work our way through our debts and look for a New home (Dream big, right?)!
Yep some over-the-top; and some relatively do-able resolutions later – I decided breaking everything into monthly goals made it simpler and easy to follow through. Thanks to MaryAnne from Mamma Smiles for the inspiration ( see all of her Goals-related posts). So here are my January, 2014 goals –
#1 – Make place for everything in our home. And giveaway everything that we have not used for more than a year. Focus on Decluttering and starting the “Simple Living” .
#2 – Do an activity-a-day with Aarya. Take him out to the playing ground everyday (because he loves it so much). Have a movie night as a family with homemade popcorn and stuff – maybe watch Iron Man, Planes or Monsters University with Dad!
#3 – Make a Memory Jar for 2014! This is one of the things I am going to do, like Tomorrow 🙂
#4 – Make this Photo-book with Aarya – maybe it will turn into a fun New Year tradition for us and we can include all of our pictures too 🙂
#5 – Weekly Photo – I am starting Project Life on trial mode. I cannot afford to buy the kit, so I need to figure out a way to do it with all the materials I can find here. See what works or not and if it is doable at all!
Even though I just wanted to start with 2, I ended with 5 goals. But I will be happy if I can accomplish half of it.
