Owl Books We love #PicturebookLists
If there was one bird we absolutely adore, it has to be
- They are nocturnal creatures meaning they are awake in the night and sleep during the day.
- There are more than 200 different kinds of owls!
- They can turn their all the way [freaky]
- And a group of Owls is called a Parliament!
So here are our very favorite OWL Books –
It’s evening in the forest and Little Owl wakes up from his day-long sleep to watch his friends enjoying the night. Hedgehog sniffs for mushrooms, Skunk nibbles at berries, Frog croaks, and Cricket sings. A full moon rises and Little Owl can’t understand why anyone would want to miss it. Could the daytime be nearly as wonderful? Mama Owl begins to describe it to him, but as the sun comes up, Little Owl falls fast asleep.
We have talked about this book before and it is one of my favorite Owl Books of all times! One night the owl babies wake up and Mother owl is gone. The three owls react differently to this. The expression on the faces of the baby owls conveys so much and fits in exactly with the simple text as the baby owls wait and wait. Though they try to be brave, they get more anxious as the night goes on and with each noise in the dark wood, they get more and more worried. This is a gentle reassuring tale with illustrations that are gorgeous.

Owl Moon is a book to cherish. The story of a little child who is finally old enough to go “owling” with her father on a cold, clear, moonlit night. The illustrations are beautiful and make you feel like you are, indeed, walking through the quiet woods at night. I absolutely recommend this award winning masterpiece by Jane Yolen to all Moms!!
It is just
We all know Owls are nocturnal, but in this story one curious little owl decides to stay awake all day, instead of all night, and discovers a world bursting with colour! Yet when the night-time comes around again, the stars above her head are still the most beautiful of all.
WOW! Said the Owl is an engaging book about
Plop, the Baby Barn Owl, is like every Barn Owl is afraid of the dark, so he won’t go hunting with his parents. Mrs Barn Owl sends him down from his nest-hole to ask about the dark and he meets a flurry of interesting people who tell him that dark is not all that bad after all. Filled with gentle humour and comfort, this is a beautiful book to read to kids who are afraid of the dark!
There was a little white owl who lived by himself in the snow. He did not have a name But he didn’t really mind too much – and his head was full of happy stories. Then one day the little owl sets off to see the world. When he meets some beautiful,
This book depicts a beautiful winter wonderland. The woods are beautiful in winter – there’s a blanket of snow on the ground and icicles glitter on the trees like diamonds [ from overview]. But Rabbit’s curiosity leads him into trouble. Can Owl rescue and save him?
This is one of my favorite books. It seems like another sweet little book but it is packed with so much more than that. The kids see the “ lazy” behaviour of Ozzie and understand what it really means then the important lesson of what is an emergency (and what is NOT an emergency).
Little Ozzie’s mother asks her to learn to fly but Lazy Ozzie tricks the Farm Animals in to helping her. In the process, we learn about difference in farm animal sizes, animal habitat (sty, pasture, duck pond), rhyming (big pig), alliteration (short sheepdog, dinky duck!), peer relations, and honesty. An extra plus for lap-reading– mother owl is hiding on every page to watch what Ozzie is doing. It’s fun to find her!

Jonathan Allen’s Little Owl series is absolutely adorable. Anyone who has read I’m Not Cute will vouch for the fact that it is super funny and super adorable and reminds you of your toddler. There are so many Owl books in this series – so much fun!
A book of Sleep is a sweet little book. It is a gentle bedtime book with enchanting illustrations and tells us how different animals go to sleep. Books perfect for kids
The little girl in this book has never seen a barn owl, but one day her grandpa puts a nest-box high in the old oak tree. They wait and they wait until one spring night, just as the sky goes pink, a pale face looks out of it, then takes off towards them [ description]
