I have spent the entire day wondering what I could do for the A to Z Challelenge! I had a long time to prepare, but I was so undecided and just as I was about to give up, [ like the universe decided to send me a secret message ] I saw Kung Fu Panda 3! And after that bout of wonderful motivation – I am here to talk about Prabha Mallaya’s absolutely Delightful book The Alphabet of Animal and Birds.

Prabha Mallaya is an illustrator and comics creator! And even though she has illustrated many books. The Alphabets of Animals and Birds is her first book!

Prabha’s love for animals permeates off the sketch-board to your soul. She has a knack of capturing the various expressions of dogs, cats, jungle cats, hens, gorillas and even humans, the ‘social animal’. An engineer turned illustrator/artist, she is a prolific graphic novelist and an alumnus of BITS Pilani, IIT Kanpur and SCAD!

This book is NOT just about animals and birds from A to Z but also their Collective names! Did you know a group of crows is called a MURDER of crows? [no, I did not! ]

Or that a group of squirrels is called a Scurry [ahhha!!] and what’s a group of Snails called? Don’t know look down! There are some magnificent illustrations in this book, and the choice of the Animals and Birds is just amazing!
