I am reading ( as you might have already guessed from my sidebar) The Tapestry of Love by Rosy Thornton. Rosy very kindly sent me the book for review sometime back and I have finally got to it. I must say there is loveliness in her writing that just wants you to snuggle in a blanket with this book and read it slowly.
It was strange, she had always defined the Cevennes by its emptiness – the space, the desolate beauty – so there was something disorienting about this teeming of life, the hillside as busy as the slope of an anthill. Yet if anything is out of place here, she told herself, it’s me and not the sheep.

As far as I can tell, it doesn’t make any difference to adults how clever children are. They always stick together. Unless you are sick or dying or mortally wounded, they will always side with the other adult
