Really Random Tuesdays

Hello everyone, It is still raining here… but I have horrible news too. On July 13th, our city – Mumbai was hit by 3 serial bomb blasts, one after the other starting at 6:45 pm – a time when the people are going back home from their offices. There were many who are dead and countless more who are wounded. My dad was there at one of the venues just 15 minutes before the bomb went off. He is safe – I feel lucky but hurt at the same time. There is a ripple in the rhythm of our lives. We heave a sigh of relief when our loved ones reach back home safe. How long should we live in this cocoon of fear? Why are we punished? Who gives them the right to kill us like this… I hate this feeling.

I do not want to die this kind of death. No one deserves it.

I hope and pray for the families of the deceased and everyone who is hurt.

This is yet another installment of Really Random Tuesdays hosted by a very beautiful blogger, Suko. Really Random Tuesday is a way to post odds and ends–announcements, musings, quotes, photos–any blogging and book-related things you can think of.

  1. I am glad to hear that your dad is safe. It’s so sad about the blasts . You’re right – how long do we have to live in fear? Every time we start to feel safe, another incident happens. My thoughts and prayers go out to all the victims of the blasts.

  2. Veens, thank goodness your father is fine! I read about this awful bombing.

Thanks for doing this meme–your button looks AWESOME!! I will link to your post.

  3. Glad to know that your father is safe.

They call Mumbai resilient but it hurts you know . It’s not a normal next day for people who suffer the loss of their loved ones. It’s utterly callous when the papers start writing that the city goes on and how it’s strong. That never has and will never reduce the pain.

  4. I am so sorry Veens – it is all so sad. My thoughts and prayers go out to those who have lost loved ones. I’m so glad to hear your family is all ok. Hugs.

  5. Oh, hon, I’m so glad that your family is ok. I have so many friends who have family or friends in the area that I’m sort of just sitting and waiting to hear back from everyone. Hugs and hope your way!

  6. Veens, how utterly horrible and scary. I just don’t understand what makes people hate so much. I’m so glad your dad is safe but my heart goes out to all those families that were not so lucky. Be safe.

  7. I’m so glad that you and your family are ok! What a terrible feeling to know that your dad was so close to such senseless harm! Sending hugs your way.

  8. Gosh, it is so scary and sad every time it happens. I am glad your family is safe, but it does hurt to think about the hundreds who suffered due to the blasts. I don’t understand how someone can hate so much, as Beth says.

You are right – how much more should we live in fear of what will happen next?

I love to hear your thoughts!
